Oksana Kaida

Oksana Kaida (b. 1969) is a contemporary watercolour artist.

She was born in Cherkasy, Ukraine. From early childhood, she showed a strong interest in drawing and painting. She graduated from a children’s art school (class of V. I. Tsymbal), where she received a solid academic foundation.

From 1985 to 1989, she studied at the Kyiv Art and Industrial College (KHPT), completing a comprehensive academic program that included academic drawing, painting, composition, graphic arts, plastic anatomy, color theory, typography, ornament, and painting techniques. She received a Bachelor’s degree.

From 1991 to 1997, she continued her education at the Lviv National Academy of Arts, earning a Master’s degree. It was during her academic years that she discovered watercolour as an independent and multifaceted medium requiring maximum concentration, precision, and speed of execution.

Oksana Kaida works primarily in the wet-on-wet technique, achieving delicate, airy color transitions and a strong sense of atmosphere in her paintings.

Her principal genres include landscape, still life, and portraiture. She draws inspiration from her travels across Europe.

She has been exhibiting her work since 1989. Her most recent exhibition featuring her works took place in August 2023 at The Collectors Gallery of Art.

Her paintings are held in private collections in Germany, the United States, Canada, Poland, Estonia, the Netherlands, Croatia, and Ukraine.

She currently lives and works in Calgary, where she is the founder and director of the private academic drawing and painting school, Oksana Art Academy.
